Jade Oolong – Light, Floral Taiwanese Mountain Oolong

Jade Oolong is a variety of Taiwanese mountain oolong that's characteristically light — something of a rarity, since many producers prefer to make heartier, stronger mountain oolongs. Its gentle, floral character has made it a staple oolong around the world.

Green tea lovers especially enjoy this smooth tea, which infuses a pale golden-jade color with a springtime floral aroma of lilies and magnolia and a mild, sweet taste. Because it isn't overwhelming in flavor, Jade Oolong is a wonderful introduction to the world of oolong tea.

Tasting Notes

  • Liquor: pale golden jade
  • Aroma: springtime florals of lily and magnolia
  • Flavor: mild, smooth and sweet
  • Body: light and refreshing
  • Finish: clean and gently floral

Why You'll Love It

Jade Oolong is the perfect everyday oolong: light, smooth and beautifully floral. It's gentle enough for beginners, yet nuanced enough to reward experienced tea drinkers who take time to explore its subtle notes over multiple steeps.

How to Enjoy

Try multiple steeps and experience its subtle floral nuances. It's lovely in the morning or afternoon, pairs beautifully with light dishes and fresh fruit, and makes a refreshing iced oolong on warm days.

Light, floral and wonderfully smooth, Jade Oolong will quickly become your favorite too! It's also a thoughtful gift for friends who are just beginning to explore loose leaf tea, and a gentle, calming cup to share with family any time of day.

We love this jade oolong. It’s very lightly floral (if I am really in the mood for floral, I drink a jasmine tea instead). It can be steeped 4 or 5 times. Not too astringent or bitter.

Honeysuckle, honeysuckle, honeysuckle, and did I mention honeysuckle? Very bright and floral- and extremely good for the price.

You will want to try this if you prefer flower, sweet, oily tea. Leaves are nice and green, expand greatly to fill your gaiwan, and easily lasts over 5 infusions. This tea is best after a full stomach. Pairs well with osmanthus flower, or dried fruit. A lighter, silky introduction to green oolongs. Perfect to keep in stock as it is very affordable.

This tea is a fine example of a very affordable "high" mountain Oolong.
You can find many better high mountain Oolongs but you'll also pay significantly more for the pleasure. Has the lovely floral notes you'd expect from an oolong of this type and even had that sweet, candy like fragrance typical of high mountain teas. Think some of the fragrance has been a little lost in recent batches but you will not find a better "high" mountain Oolong at this price. This Jade Oolong is , in my opinion, far superior to the Ali Shan and Mei Shan high mountain available on this site. Great tea at great price. What more do you need? Value for money: Second to none
