Description

Jade Gyokuro is a very unique green tea that originates from En Shi, in Hubei province. It is the only famous Chinese green tea that is processed using steam deactivation entirely. The leaves are reminiscent of a Japanese gyokuro or sencha; though even with the steam processing method an unique appearance, this remains quite Chinese in character.

This tea also has a long history. En Shi City has produced tea since the Tang Dynasty (618-907). History suggests that this style of tea was first created during Emperor Kang Xi's reign. In 1945, Jade Gyokuro was introduced to Japan and it was so well accepted that it was called “Chinese Gyokuro”.

Gyrokuro is shade-grown, which increases the levels of chlorophyll in the leaf- this adds depth, flavor, color, and complexity to the tea, and significantly increases its nutritional content as well. Our Jade Gyokuro has a silky mouthfeel, is “buttery”, full-flavored, with a characteristically Chinese green tea flair.

I thoroughly enjoy good Japanese gyokuro but wanted to try this Chinese one. Initially, I was making it too weak, but when I strengthened it a bit, WOW! This is some wonderful tea!

I just received this, and had to write a review: this is a GREAT tea. Subtle but pronounced, delicate but strong. Now on my top 3 list, with Silver Needle (white) and Golden Monkey (black).

I normally drink jasmine green, but this is now my daily and favourite green tea. It’s smooth, subtle, and the best green tea I have tried so far. I am definitely buying some more!

By the far the best Dragon Well I have tried from what is available in the UK.
This specific tea from Tealyra has been a daily staple of mine for the last 5 months or so.
Could not recommend more!
