About matcha accessories

Start with a Matcha Whisk and a Chashaku Bamboo Matcha Scoop. The Matcha Hand Sifter breaks up lumps, and a Matcha Whisk Holder keeps the whisk in shape between uses.

For whisking, choose the Japanese Matcha Bowl or the Matcha Bowl with Spout for easy pouring. The Matcha Startup Gift Set and Japanese Matcha Ceremonial Kit make great gifts. Pair your tools with our matcha powder.

Matcha accessories FAQ

Why should I sift matcha?

Matcha is so fine that it clumps easily. Sifting it through a hand sifter before adding water breaks up lumps, so it whisks into a smooth, even foam.

How much matcha is one bamboo scoop?

One heaped chashaku scoop is roughly 1 g. Two scoops with 60 to 90 ml of water at about 71 to 79°C make a typical bowl.

Why use a matcha bowl instead of a mug?

A matcha bowl is wide with a flat bottom, which gives the whisk room for the quick zigzag motion that builds foam. A mug is too narrow to whisk well.

When should I replace my matcha whisk?

Replace it when the tines start to break or lose their curl, since it will no longer foam well. With daily use and good care, a whisk usually lasts several months.
