Curcuma is the botanical name for turmeric, the bright orange rhizome of a ginger family plant long grown in India and Southeast Asia. In the cup it offers a warm, earthy, slightly peppery flavor with a gentle bitterness and a brilliant golden color. Turmeric is a classic in golden milk blends and chai, and it also pairs well with rooibos, green tea, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper and coconut. For a creamy golden latte, steep it strong and add warm milk and a touch of honey.
