Yerba Mate (pronounced “yur-ba mah-tay”) is Brazil’s national beverage! It is made from shade-grown leaves of the Amazonian rain forest holly tree. Its leaf packs a powerful of dose caffeine similar to a cup of coffee; yet has the health benefits of true tea. It is amazing, as it delivers a cup of earthy, pungent and a satisfying-as-chocolate drinking experience. It is naturally high in caffeine, minerals and antioxidants making it an excellent, balanced, and healthy brew.

A famous study done in 1964 proclaimed that Yerba Mate has all the necessary amino acids, nutrients and minerals necessary to sustain life! There isn’t a more excellent reason to introduce mate into your daily life. Our traditional Green Yerba Mate is the highest quality unaltered dry leaf, it has not been flavored or roasted. It has a wonderful, satisfying rich “green” flavor. Try it yourself to see what the fuss is all about!

I think it’s important to share.
Before I begin, customer service has been excellent.
I questioned whether this tea can cause cancer and they have directly communicated with the supplier, their answer is as follows:

Analysis of PAHs are not mandatory in Herbals and fruit blends, and so it is not mandatory for Mate either. So our Mate is not analyzed on PAHs.

Please be aware that PAH does/can cause cancer and I think that this message is important to be passed on.

This website is fantastic and I love all their teas. Their quality is incomparable and I will be a customer for life but will not be purchasing anymore Yerba mate.

FANTASTIC! I'm part Uruguayan and this was amazing! Make sure to steep it at the proper temperature otherwise it'll be too bitter. Gives you a nice wake up but doesn't give you that anxious feeling I personally get with coffee.

Yerba Mate has reputed and studied anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties, eg. ( Mouth cancers attributed to consuming Yerba Mate are likely associated with constant scalding of the mouth from drinking it too hot (ie. use water between 70 and no more than 80 degrees Celsius when drinking with guampa and bombilla). Yerba mate grows wild as a shrub layer in the jungle or is grown on plantations. It is a hardy species of holly and is inherently organic since sprays are not required. The tea is harvested by pruning leaves and sections of twig, so the trees are long-lived, similar to the tea tree. Some Yerba Mate producers are being pressured to switch to soy bean production and cut down their trees. My family lived in Paraguay for a time and brought the tea along to Canada in the late 1950's and the shared drinking ritual has been part of family tradition throughout my life. Order some and enjoy!
