This is the most incredible black tea blend. I can certainly see and taste how it came to be called Monks Blend! It has a well rounded flavor that requires little if any sweetness added. Also, some of the dried fruits from Tealyra like raspberries and lemon add a nature flavor boost
This is a great black blend. Bold. Fresh. It has a nice mouth feel to it. Reminds me of Lipton a little bit. It brews a dark brown cup. Would be great as a morning tea. One of my faves so far.

This tea is wonderful!! I normally get English Breakfast, and Orange Pekoe but I tried this one based on the reviews. It’s my favourite so far! Great smell, smooth, not bitter. I liked it a lot more than the dargeeling tea because it isn’t very strong. This is a great mix and makes a nice strong cup of tea.

This is one of my more affordable teas in my collection but I enjoy it immensely and I consume it regularly in my tea rotation. It is thoroughly smooth and non bitter and I easily get two or three infusions from the tea leaves.
After sipping this tea (which is the way all tea should be consumed), I can understand why the monks chose these teas to blend. A relaxing cup that encourages one to ponder the depths of the soul. An appropriate choice for "alone time" tea. A monastery beverage if there ever was one. The earthiness of this tea encourages one to get in touch with his or her Maker
I won't say the tea gives floral notes. But yeah, the tea has pleasant aroma, similar to chai found in South Asia and South East Asia (aka Pakistan and India). I would say that it's a good black tea. However, I was looking for different floral notes.
The first taste was a surprising experience of delicate sweetness with none of that mouth puckering tannin. This gave way through the cup to a subtle earthiness that carried through to the end by which time it had developed a rich boldness with delicate fungi and raisin toast flavours. I mostly have this black with water after it has rested after boiling for about a minute.
I decided to test a bunch of tea from TeaLyra so I ordered a set and brewed them all the same. For our test, 1 full teaspoon of tea was used and all were steeped for 3 minutes in a 50mL teacup. To test how well the smell and taste held up, I also included a second brew during our test.
We do not understand why this was so highly rated. The scent and taste were both weak. On the second brew, it was plain water. Outside of the test, I tried brewing the tea a little stronger and steeped it a little longer, in both cases it did not impress. Tastes like cheap tea you can get at the store.
